Acupressure is based on one the most ancient principles of healing - that simply touching a specific point on the body will release stress and improve health in the body. In an acupressure session, I apply firm pressure directly to these "points" on your body, which relieves your muscle tension and improves your circulation. This simple and powerful technique has been shown to be very effective in treating headaches, backaches, and even insomnia.
I have over 30 years experience in massaging and applying energy work on a variety of different animals, all shapes and sizes. Big & Small I have massaged them all: Horse, Dog, Cat, Birds, Hamster, Etc.. you name it and it can be done. I can also give instruction on how to work on your own pet. Animals are very receptive to Energy Work & Massage, they absolutly LOVE IT!!
Aromatherapy combined with a Therapeutic Massage can bring about a very relaxing, balancing, negative cleansing, positive inducing, or sometimes even a stimulating massage. Depending on what the client is hoping to obtain from their massage. Prior to the clients appointment, I will add pure essence of essential oils obtained from flowers and plants to the massage oil to induce different physiological responses customized to each clients needs. Olfactory input, or smells can strongly effect a persons response. Even when a persons olfactory nerve is incapacitated (they can't smell), Aromatherapy will still effect the brain. Bringing about homeostasis (balance) within the clients body. Smells are powerful memory triggers, and emotions can accompany those memories. Too many scents can overwhelm the client's nervous system and desensitize it. If you have sensitivities and allergies this modality should be avoided.
Chair massage is a popular way of relieving stress and releasing tension right in your home or workplace. You receive your massage in a specialized ergonomic chair or table top device (for the handicap client or a person that is uncomfortable with climbing on the massage chair) which I bring to your location. In addition to the usual health benefits of massage, another benefit of chair or table top massage is that it is done over the clothing. With seated massage, you can avoid the discomfort and awkwardness that you may feel in disrobing for a traditional massage. Also, chair or table top massage sessions are usually shorter than traditional massage, making it convenient enough to fit into your busy schedule. For business owners, it is the perfect addition to a Wellness Program. It has been proven that having a chair massage increases productivity in the work place.
CranioSacral Therapy is a gentle yet powerful technique that is effective in releasing neck pain, back pain, and mental stress (among other things). It does this by optimizing the movement of cerebrospinal fluid through the spine and around the skull, bathing and nourshing the brain. Developed by physician William G. Sutherland, DO., in the 1940's, this therapy provides a very soothing and relaxing healing experience. In the mid 70's, John E. Upledger, DO., OMM., futher advanced the practice and developed his own form of CST. It works more with the fascial component of the dura mater that encase the brain and spinal cord. He confirmed the rhythmic movement of the cranial bones and clarified the craniosacral mechanism as the cause for the cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) pulse. Upledger's theory suggested that restrictions in the flow of CSF affect the function of the CNS (Central Nerveous System). Including neurological disabilities, and motor & sensory dysfunctions.
After a gentle massage of the neck, head and face to help in relaxing the muscles around the skull. I will evaluate the craniosacral rhythm, then I'll apply a small amount of pressure to cranial plates of the skull and sacrum to manipulate the movement of the CSF. This helps the body to restore and regulate the flow of CSF improving and relieving a number of associated health conditions such as Autism, Headaches, Poor eye-hand coordination, Tinnitus and Vertigo. And in some cases have been known to stimulate the Growth hormone (GH) in the Pituitary Gland.
Cupping Therapy is safe and the best Deep-Tissue massage available. It is an ancient method of causing local congestion. A partial vacuum is created in cups placed on the skin that draws up the underlying tissues. When the cup is left in place on the skin for a few minutes, blood stasis is formed and localized healing takes place. Cupping Therapy has been futher developed as a means to open the meridians of the body. Meridians are the conduits in the body through which energy flows to every organ and tissue. There are five meridians on the back that, when opened, allow invigorating energy to travel the whole length of the body. It has been found that cupping is probably the best way of opening those meridians. Cupping has also been found to affect the body up to four inches into the tissues, causing tissues to release toxins, activate the lymph system, clear colon blockages, help activate and clear the veins, arties and capillaries, activate the skin, clear stretch marks and improve varicose veins.
Deep Tissue Massage is a form of bodywork that aims to relieve tension in the deeper layers of tissue in the body. Deep Tissue Massage is a highly effective method for releasing chronic stress areas due to misalignment, repetitive motions, and past lingering injuries. Due to the nature of the deep tissue work, open communication during the session is crucial to make sure you don't get too uncomfortable. Keep in mind that soreness is pretty common after the treatment, and that plenty of water should be ingested to aid with the flushing and removal of toxins that will have been released from the deep tissue during the session.
Energy work is based on the belief that everyone has a "life force", and that the body needs to sustain its balance for optimum health. Anytime you experience emotional or physical illness, it indicates that your life force has simply become unbalanced. I work directly with your energy field to restore balance and flow to your entire system. And once your energy field has been restored to full health, your body will follow. I balance your energy through using a multiple of different energy modalities, such as; Reiki, Crainosacral Therapy, Polarity Therapy, Zero Balancing & Zone Therapy.
Geriatric massage is a form of massage designed to meet the specific needs of the elderly. It helps to improve blood circulation, relieve pain, and also increase range of motion. If you are elderly, geriatric massage can help you maintain and improve your overall health, as well as regain certain physical functions that have been reduced due to aging. In addition, since the elderly don't typically receive enough physical touch, this massage can also help alleviate symptoms of loneliness or depression.
Hot Stone Therapy is a style of massage where heated stones are placed at specific sites on your body to deepen relaxation and promote circulation in your muscles. Muscles that are heated with these stones release tension and stress much more deeply and quickly than with a traditional massage. The overall experience is very relaxing, nurturing, and rejuvenating to the Mind, Body & Soul as a whole.
Infant Massage is a style of bodywork designed specifically to promote the healthy development of your infant. Caring human touch is crucial for a healthy thriving baby, and the benefits of massaging your infant are potent and numerous. For example, many infants show improved growth and development of the brain and nervous system. Infant massage has also been shown to improve the quality of a baby's sleep, as well as strengthening their immune system.
Lymphatic Drainage Therapy aims to gently and rhythmically move the lymph through the body, especially swollen areas of the body, relieving pressure and enhancing the functioning of the immune system. As both a preventative and remedial technique, LD can be used for a wide range of purposes including faster recovery from injury, reduction of swelling and discomfort from pregnancy, and strengthened resistance to illness.
Myofascial massage is a technique used to treat injuries and discomfort, reducing pain and increasing range of motion. Myofascial massage differs from other types of massage in that it targets the fascia - the membrane surrounding muscles - rather than the muscle itself. Since fascia completely encases every muscle in the body, imbalances in the fascia can have serious effects on your range of motion and comfort level. While other forms of massage can overlook the fascia, myofascial massage focuses specifically on releasing tension in this important membrane.
Myofascial release is a form of soft tissue therapy intended to eliminate pain, increase range of motion, and rebalance the entire body. It does this by using massage techniques to stretch the fascia and release the bonds that exist between the fascia, muscles and bones. Fascia is the connective tissue that connects and covers all muscles, organs, and skeletal structures of the body. Direct myofascial release is sometimes known as deep tissue work. Indirect release applies light pressure and gently stretches the fascia; this allows for increased blood circulation and relief from pain.
Polarity therapy is a type of bodywork which is focused on the energy fields of the body, rather than the physical body itself. This type of body work is also called energy work, because the practitioner attempts to adjust the skewed energy fields of the body and bring them into balance. During a polarity therapy session, the therapist and client usually work together in a very calm, relaxed environment.
Pregnancy Massage is a style of bodywork designed specifically for pregnant women. Pregnancy is a time when a woman's body endures tremendous stress due to dramatic physical and emotional changes. Using various techniques specially developed for the expecting mother, Pregnancy Massage helps release the pain and discomfort experienced throughout pregnancy. The benefits are profound, including emotional support, the relief of joint pain due to extra weight and postural imbalance, improved breathing and relaxation.
Reflexology is a type of bodywork that focuses on applying pressure to the specific nerve zones in your feet. Unlike other foot massages that intend to mostly relieve tension in the feet themselves, reflexology is a far more in-depth science that aims to harmonize your entire body. According to reflexology, every part of the human body is mapped into your feet. Reflexology treatments have been found to be highly effective for conditions such as allergies, headaches, and depression.
Reiki is a Japanese form of energy work that cleanses and balances the energy system in the body. As a result, the body's natural self-healing mechanisms strengthen, helping to establish optimum health. During a session, I work directly with your energy field to remove blockages, detoxify your system, and restore your vital life force energy. Reiki utilizes a gentle laying on of hands to conduct the necessary energy force between us. The benefits of Reiki range from the release of habitual mental/emotional stress to alleviating chronic pain.
Swedish Massage is a very relaxing and therapeutic style of bodywork. It combines oils or lotion with an array of strokes such as rolling, kneading, and percussion to help the body improve its circulation. The benefits of this type of bodywork are wide-ranging and include relief from aches and pains, decreased stress levels in the body, enhanced mental clarity, improved appearance, and greater flexibility.
When performing a Therapeutic Full Body Massage, each massage is tailored to a clients needs. Say a client is having reoccuring headaches and difficulty with their neck, lower back and feet. Throughout the entire hour massage I will focus on and use my toolbox of modalities to help the client in relieiving their ailments.
Trigger Point Therapy is a localized area of hypertonicity at the motor end unit of a muscle, or a neuromuscular junction, that refers symptoms to other areas of the body. Because of the nerve involvement, it refers vague, aching discomfort or an itchy sensation to the surrounding areas, in a specific pattern. Trigger Point Therapy is a combination of Myofascial Release and Neuromuscular Therapy. Trigger Point Therapy requires applying pressure directly on top of the trigger point (A cramp within a bundle of muscle fibers in a muscle, that raise up into a lumpy mass under the skin), usually causing pain for the client. The pain tends to limit the range of motion (R.O.M.) and in some cases it can cut off circulation causing numbness and pain to the affected area. There are several factors which can create a trigger point: Skeletal misalignment, Poor posture, Insufficient hydration, Inadequate sleep, Sleeping habits, Nutritional inadequacies, a Psychological factor such as stress & even Long-term muscle constriction, such as compression by a purse, wallet, backpack, etc. A trigger point can become chronic, by being in an area for years, totally unaware to the client, until they start to feel discomfort. This is percisely why a person should receive a massage at least once a month to help maintain proper wellness of our body. After a Trigger Point Therapy session icing (15 minutes on (or until numb)/15 minutes off for an hour) may be required to aleviate lingering achiness in the area worked.
I also offer a 2 Hour Full Body Therapeutic Massage. This Massage entails all (or most) of the massage techniques listed above to help the body full fill complete relaxation and balance within the body and its systems. With this amount of time taken on a person, it allows me to focus on the individuals aches and pains from head to toe relinquishing the stress throughout their entire body.
